Student Expectations:
Every lesson is a step forward in your progress, and we expect our students to practice their instruments every day.
It is important to practice daily so that you can go over and remember what you worked on with your teacher in the previous class.
Notice Period:
Students are expected to have 1 class every week, and are asked to reschedule their classes if they cannot make their scheduled class time. We will always work with you to find an alternate time/day.
If you cannot attend a class, please give us 12 hours notice to schedule a make-up class. Cancellations made less than 12 hours in advance will lose the class without a make-up option.
Last-minute school event, not enough practice, too much homework, friend's birthday party, etc. are not acceptable excuses to miss class and must be rescheduled.
Emergency / Extenuating Circumstances:
Exceptions may be made for sickness, car trouble, or other extenuating circumstances on an individual basis.
No-Show Policy:
Students who fail to attend a scheduled lesson without prior notice will be considered a "no-show" and will be charged the full lesson fee.
Scheduling Changes:
Notes By The Bay reserves the right to modify or reschedule lessons due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., scheduling conflict, teacher illness, family emergencies). In the event of a scheduling change, we will notify the student as soon as possible.
Our studio works collaboratively as a team. If a student's primary teacher is unavailable for a class, we will provide a substitute teacher who will continue working on the student's current repertoire to keep them on track and avoid interrupting their progress.
Tuition Fees:
Please pay the full month’s tuition at the beginning of the month.
A one-time family registration fee is required at sign-up to secure your spot in our studio.
Pausing/Stopping Classes:
If you’re considering stepping away from our music classes, we kindly ask for two weeks' written notice. This allows us to manage our scheduling and accommodate other students effectively.
Studio Etiquette:
Please come to your lesson well-prepared, ready to play the previous week’s assignment.
Unless taking notes during the lesson, please kindly put away cell phones/computers, etc.
Please make sure to wash your hands before class, and to keep your fingernails short and neat. Playing with long fingernails gets in the way of learning proper technique, good hand position, correct form, and vibrato.
